CCEL is unique in its mission as it provides a link between Extension Services and the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President representing Academic Affairs. This rare distinction unites two units within Mississippi State University to bring about the efforts stated in MSU’s Strategic Plan.
Keeping in mind the link between Extension and Academic Affairs, CCEL concentrates MSU’s community-engaged learning efforts on five focus areas inspired by both Mississippi State University’s strategic plan and the relationship between the communities of Mississippi, Extension Services, and Academic Affairs. These focus areas address the needs of the citizens of Mississippi, as well as the region, nation, and the world, related through the eyes of those working within and with Extension Services and Academic Affairs.

- Economic and Consumer Development
